Second edition of R. E. Bradshaw's first novel, Out on the Sound. Decky and Charlie begin their adventures together in this story of new love. Two-thirty somethings find each other through fate, and fight to hang on as their romance takes them on a roller coaster of emotions. Mostly filled with hilarious interactions with friends and family, it is through a tragic event that Decky and Charlie find out just how far they would go for each other. Set on the North Carolina coast, the beautiful scenery serves as a background to Decky and Charlie's adventures during the first four whirlwind weeks of their relationship.
Excerpts from Reader’s Online Reviews:
“I loved this story. I moved north 30 years ago but my southern accent started to re-emerge as Decky and Charlie’s story unfolded. R.E. Bradshaw knows the Outer Banks area, women’s softball, lesbians, architectural design ideas, bi-polar disease, fishing rods and fishing boats, delightful dogs, southern charm, good cooking and love at first sight. My most important insight is her ability to tell a heartwarming tale. The few moments of schmaltz are offset by the moments of anger and downright terror. You should happily hand over your money for this one. Thanks Ms.Bradshaw, for hours of enjoyment.”
“This third book that I’ve read by RE Bradshaw and it has lived up to the other In fact I am now hard pressed to tell you which one I’ve enjoyed the most. Quite simply, they are all excellent. Once again I could not put the book down. I was really sorry to come to the end of the book. But at the same time, I am pleased to know that there is a sequel to follow. I just hope we don’t have to wait too long.”
“At first I thought, “Oh, no here we go again–see each other and fall into bed the same night”. I was pleasantly surprised to find that there was a wonderful story about coming out, fighting the odds, and an excellent love story. I have her other books and would recommend that you buy them all!”
“Could not put this book down. Cannot wait to read the 2nd in the series. Bradshaw is a great writer.”
“Bradshaw does an outstanding job by keeping her reader both entertained and enthralled. This story does a remarkable job showing the reader what many lesbians experience in our “modern-day” and “enlightened” world. As you become drawn into the story, you soon find yourself cheering them on as they face roadblock after roadblock in their attempt to simply be allowed to be a couple who love one another. And the descriptions of the towns, country, and shorelines of North Carolina make me want to go visit to see the beauty for myself. Great job, Bradshaw!”
“No doubt, this book has it all, great characters (RC, Molly, Brenda, the Twins, the hanging judge and of course the royal entourage are greatly appreciated), grand drama, sweet first love, hot sex, a rollercoaster ride and sweet, quiet times. This book packs a whole variety of emotions, pictures, characters and is a great read. Not easy at times, but so worth it. And it is a great homage to the South!”
